J-Smart

J-Smart

Jet fans have been used as two-stage and two-way as opposed to the previous applications. The control of these fans has been made by means of the conventional motor protection switch / contactor / thermal and auxiliary relays and the PLC input / output units to which this information is connected. In addition, jet fan motors are manufactured with double speed winding motors. Therefore, wiring is carried out with cable (4 + 3 = 7 x 2.5 mm2) separately for 1st and 2nd speed. Low (0-50 ppm) and high (50-120 ppm) level alarm information is taken for carbon monoxide system and system is working according to these two levels. Carbon monoxide level information in zones cannot be seen in ppm.    In J-SMART ”smart fan application, all jet fans are operated with frequency inverters in Fire Mode feature. Thus, it is not necessary to use the switchgear / thermal / auxiliary relay as well as the switchgear. Since the jet fans are controlled by frequency inverter, they are produced with single wiring. Thus, jet fans are able to operate at desired speed between 0% and 100% instead of double cycle. Accordingly, instead of 7 x 2.5 mm cable, 4 x 2.5 mm cable is drawn and cable and cable work are saved. Since the central PLC in the board communicates with only one cable, no need for PLC input / output units for the status, fault and control information of the jet fan. In addition, with the addition of J-Smart-CO, jet fan automation system and carbon monoxide alarm system can be presented as a single package. In this way, the user can see the average carbon monoxide value of each zone in detail from the J-Smart jet fan automation system display. This allows the user to operate the jet fans of different carbon monoxide density zones at different speeds. This results in significant energy savings.

Advantages of J-SMART in Jet Fan Application

Longer Life Jet Fans…
In case of frequency inverter operation, since the take-off, speed changes and stop steps are performed smoothly, the strain on the jet fan motor mechanics is greatly reduced. As a result of the reduction of wear, the life of the mechanical components is prolonged, the requirements for renewal are reduced and maintenance and material costs are saved. The frequency inverter continuously monitors the mains supply, the motor connections and the motor heating, thus preventing the jet fan from failing due to such reasons. At these points, when they detect any abnormalities that may damage the system, they record it as an error. In this way, they help the maintenance-fault personnel to look back at the causes of errors. In this way, it is possible to reduce the total failure rate of the jet fan and to identify the sources of errors more quickly and more accurately.

Less Cable...
When a single-speed motor is used, the cable cross-section is 4 x 2.5 mm². The cost of the N2XH FE 180 cable with a 4 x 2.5 mm² cross section is 56% less than the cost of a N2XH FE 180 cable with a cross section of 7 x 2.5 mm². In addition, the use of cable with a cross section of 4 x 2,5 mm² reduces labor costs.

PPM 50  Hz 45 Hz 40 Hz 35 Hz 30 Hz 25 Hz
100-120 1,5 kW
80-100   1,1 kW
60-80     0,51 kW
40-60       0,46 kW
20-40         0,32 kW
0-20           0,18 kW

Example: A new power output with a frequency inverter of 35 kW (1.5 kW) to reduce fan power:
(Low frequency / nominal frequency) ³ x Nominal power = (35/50) ³ X 1.5 kw) = 0.76 kw.

More Flexible Scenarios...

Users can run the jet fan system according to the desired speed value depending on the carbon monoxide level or with the J-Smart jet smart fan application. There is no 2 speed limit like 1st cycle and 2nd cycle. Zones with different carbon monoxide density can work proportionally with ppm values at different speeds.

Less Fault Source…
In jet fan application with frequency inverter, much less switching material is used. Less fault sources are generated from contactors, phase sequence and phase protection relay, thermal switch and motor winding. It also extends the life of the motor by preventing the inrush current and mechanical stresses experienced by the motors during the initial echoing.

More Quiet Operation…
In the case of jet fan application with frequency inverter, the initial operation of the jet fan is quieter than the direct-on-line application.

Less Energy...
In frequency inverter operation, the starting current does not exceed 1.5-2 times the rated current of the motor. This ratio is 3-4 times in voltage controlled devices and 7-8 times in step controlled motors. During the deceleration, the frequency inverter does not draw any current from the grid, and in the meantime it consumes the energy that the motor, which is running as a generator, feeds back on a resistance. Voltage-controlled devices provide current to the low-speed winding during deceleration and can also supply voltage to the main winding if necessary. This means electricity consumption during the deceleration time. With the use of inverter, energy savings of 30-50% can be achieved according to the graded jet fans.
