Aironn goes on 'Industry Experts Meet' Seminars with 'Road Tunnels'

Organized by Aironn, Industry Experts are Meeting with each other at “Highway Tunnels"" seminar on December 22, 2017, took place in Ankara Latanya Hotel.

Professionals from the public sector as well as many designers, practitioners, test and commissioning experts attended the seminar. Among speakers are Dr. Abdurrahman Kılıç, Dr.Gökhan Balık, Cihan Kayhan, Ceyhun İnsel and Efe Ünal.

After appreciation speech by Mr. Akgun, Aironn CEO, Prof. Dr. Erol Kılkış emphasized the importance of developing local engineering and domestic technology, pointed out that fan engineering has become a discipline and in this direction, and Aironn has emphasized the importance of Fan Engineering.

Session Chairman Prof.Dr.Abdurrahman Kılıç briefly described the tunnel in his opening speech. He gave examples of tunnel accidents and deaths in Sweden, Austria, and Baku, noting that smoke was the most important cause of human deaths.

According to the regulations in England, the tunnel is a 150 meter long underground opening. According to the NFPA, the underground passages above 23 meters and 1.80 meters wide are called tunnels including Road, pedestrian path, irrigation, prison, such as tunnels with weapons trafficking. The first tunnel was held in London in 1863. The second was in 1875 by the French in Istanbul. With each passing day the number of tunnels in Turkey will increase due to topographic issues and because the country we have disabled relieving the traffic flow and our Requirements.

Dr. Gökhan Balık gave detailed information under the following headings titled Fire Safety Measures in Highway Tunnels including Regulations and standards, Fire safety measures in highway tunnels, Design principles of emergency ventilation systems, Emergency ventilation system alternatives, Critical speed calculation in longitudinal ventilation systems, Heat release rate MW, Time-temperature curves, Pressure loss calculations, PIARC sample calculations.

At the end of his presentation,Dr. Gökhan Balık pointed out the importance of performing CFD analysis in tunnels.

Cihan Kayhan gave a presentation about Air Conditioning System, Test and Commissioning Criteria in Highways Tunnels Kar; test and commissioning problems and the issues to be considered in ventilation systems, along with examples, shared their experiences. Related documents, equipment tests, characterization tests, scenario-strategy tests, road tunnel calculation criteria were included in presentation. Regarding the testing phase in Turkey; Cihan Kayhan said that due to time constraints, political and strategic pressures, the testing steps were superficial.

Ceyhun İnsel in the presentation of Fan Motors Efficiency Classes; In reference to the European Directive on electric motors, ErP drew attention to the fact that the motors with a capacity above 375 kW were IE2 or IE2 operating with the speed controller. Insel pointed out that the cost of the electric motors, which is responsible for 70% of the energy consumption in the industry, corresponds to only 2% in the lifetime cost of approximately ten years and 95% is the energy consumption, and Insel revealed the importance of motor energy efficiency.

Efe Ünal made a presentation introducing TAP (Tunnel Analysis Program) software.

”We are pleased to present the first version of the Tunnel Analysis Program we have been working on for two years“ said Efe Unal and continued his speech as: TAP is the software that makes the jet fan longitudinal ventilation calculations in highways tunnels. The calculations include both daily and emergency ventilation. Specifies the number of jet fans to be used according to the specified locations. Efe Ünal emphesised that all the details of the project with a single record under the corporate memory, the addition of parameters, flexibility to allow the change, precision calculation, the theoretical infrastructure used in the software that contains detailed information in the transparency, fast, time-saving calculation capability, customizable reporting. At the end of his speech, the data of a tunnel of 690 meters were entered into the software and the calculations and the preparation of the report showed that it could be done in about 2.5 minutes. A trial version of the software was presented to the guests. On the software carton; Aironn's tunnel excavation ventilation related software downloads were included.

Aironn put its sign from Tunnel calculations to the production of fans. Thanks to experienced R & D team, CFD confirms the calculations which is done by Tunnel Analysis Program (TAP). As a result of the calculations obtained, according to the number of jet fans obtained from the latest technology equipment in the factory after manufacturing products meet customers' needs.
